The Hinges are in perfect condition and considering its age, it is almost 100 years old and considering its use, its overall CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are exceptional. Rare Musical 'CANNON' CIGAR HOLDER, Napoléon III Circa 1850-1870 RARE Musical Cannon which holds 7 Cigars in the Barrel together with a Barrel shaped Match Holder/Striker beside the Canon. KEY wind on bottom for Music. The Cannon was placed on the Dining Table at the end of a Meal and it was directed towards a Guest and by releasing the Trigger mechanism at the back of the Barrel, a Cigar is shot out of the Canon in the direction of the Guest. Match Striker found next to Barrel. Turning the Barrel Activates 1 of 2 Musical Tunes. CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are exceptional. Everything works! Purchased many years ago from an Estate in England, it appears to have never been used. MATCH HOLDER / STRIKER -Napoléon III period, Rare Example FABULOUS XIXth Century heavy Bronze 'Porte Allumettes" or Match Holder & Striker. Depicted is a Boy in great detail, hair, face, hands etc. with a wicker basket (in Bronze) on his back and in this basket one puts the Matches. The portion above his back is the striker as well as the wicker basket. On the stand is another wicker basket in bronze which was used either for the used matches or for cigarettes or cigarillos. The boy is carrying a Candle in one hand and a Cane in the other. CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are excellent considering age. Difficult to photograph. Dimensions: 4" long x 1.5" wide x 5"high. |

SILVER & Niello French Matchsafe "VESTA", Napoléon III French Matchsafe ‘Vesta’ in massive Silver made in France circa 1850-1875. It has been totally adorned with Niello decoration. Match striker is at the bottom. Hinge works well, closes tightly.

Antique "DRESDEN" MATCH HOLDER Striker XIXth Century DRESDEN polychrome porcelain figural MATCH HOLDER in the form of a Sailor holding a pipe and resting his hand on an anchor. The "Strikers" are on the base (both sides). There is one receptacle for Cigarettes, another for Cigars and one for Matches. The Sailor is wearing a green jacket and pink striped trousers. This XIXth Century piece is marked #2694 + other numbers on the bottom and also has what appears to be an artist's mark.
