Exceptional 2 Pairs of French Sterling SALTS Circa 1870, Napoléon Bonaparte

  Rare, Beautiful, Practical 4 SALTS in the Finest French Sterling Silver & Vermeil
These 4 Salt Bowls were made in Paris, during the period of Emperor Napoléon III. The Silver is finer than Sterling and clearly Hallmarked 4 times with the French Silver Minerve #1 Hallmark and by the famous Parisian Silversmith, DEBAIN at 31, Boulevard HAUSSMANN, Paris whose Successor was the famous Parisian Silversmith, Puiforcat. Great for Salt alone or Salt and Pepper or, whatever. Weighs in total about 3 + oz (100 grams). Dimensions: Width approx 3 1/2”; Height: approx 2” to top of Handle. 19th Century Antique BORDEAUX Wine Taster by CHRISTOFLE France RARE Ombilic model

  Superb & rare French Christofle Bordeaux Silver Wine Taster. Original Bordelaise or Bordeaux Model, called 'Ombilic'. Clearly Hallmarked on the outside bottom footed Rim with early Christofle Silver Hallmarks including Charles Christofle, founder of CHRISTOFLE. (see Photos) The simplicity & quality of the work are outstanding. It is heavy and it is only one of 2 of its kind I have ever seen made by Christofle. CONDITION WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are excellent considering its age and use. One does not find examples early examples like this easily. I have an Example by Ercuis, and another Christofle Bordeaux Ombilic, on my Site.

   Extraordinary example from Christofle. Heavy Antique Liquor Goblet or Shot Glass Circa 1930 & decorated with "8 point STARS " as can be seen in the larger photo. Goblet's interior has been Gilded (Vermeil) with 18k Gold. Hallmarked with 3 Christofle Silver Marks. Goblet weighs approx. 40 grams (1.5oz) and is 2 3/8" Tall. COCKTAIL SHAKER, Circa 1930 by 'Christofle-Gallia' famous Parisian Silversmiths

  Rare Art Deco Martini & Cocktail Shaker made by one of the world's leading Silversmiths, Christofle & Gallia and made in France during a period when Quality, Workmanship and Detail were important. This particular Model is quite Rare. Weighs 600g. Looks like the work of EAMES, Charles or Ray. In this period, Christofle engaged outside Artists for Design. Dimensions: about 10.25" (26,0 cm) tall with the Lid. Comes apart for cleaning into 3 parts (see larger photo). It is well & clearly Hallmarked by Gallia-Christofle with its Name and Silver Hallmarks. Not Sterling. Top serves as a Measure. Practical as well as very Collectible. French WINE TASTER Medal signed 'Marcel Renard' (1861-1909) Prized, RARE

  Fine, Large, Heavy (80grams +/-3oz.) Wine Tasting Cup or Tastevin in SILVER. Beautifully constructed with Bubbles & Waves and a Medallion in Hallmarked .950 Sterling signed by a leading French Artist, 'Marcel Renard' set into the bottom of the Bowl. Along with Dropsy, Renard is regarded as one of the finest Medallists in Europe. His bronze medals sell for Hundred's of Dollars. French Silver Hallmarks, French Minerve Head N°1 (950/1000) indicating finest Silver (finer than Sterling 925/1000) impressed on the Finger Ring and on the Bowl. The Silversmith's Hallmarks are for one of Paris's most well known Silversmiths, 'Ravinet D'Enfert' is on the Bowl. The taster is 3 3/8 " in diameter. Another Hallmark, Eagle's Head on the underside of the Thumb Rest. CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are Exceptional. I have seen 3 Examples in 30 years and I bought the 3 of them!

  Xtra fine Christofle Bottle Opener (Décapsuleur) showing the portrait of the Founder of Christofle 'Charles Christofle 1805-1867' in its original presentation Box. The Orfeverie Mark is shown in the 'Dictionnaire des Poinçons d'Orfèvrerie on P. 98 as 'Silver' department of Christofle, Orfèvrerie Christofle, 8, rue Royale, Paris, France. More importantly, it comes also from the Gallia Collection which certainly dates this piece to before 1938. 3 1/8" x 2". CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are excellent. PLEASE do not confuse with lesser quality Modern copies. SEE & Compare with item #6500431040 which Sold for $108.
Bronze French Sculpture 'Le Penseur' by RODIN, ( 1840-1917) Signed

  Fabulous Rodin Bronze Sculpture of The Thinker, mounted on a marble base and sculpted perfectly to scale. It was part of Auguste Rodin's major work, The Gates of Hell. Influenced by Dante's Divina Comedia, thus the Thinker, in sober meditation is looking down at scenes of human passion & pain. The Bronze is fixed to a Greenish_Black Marble Base (see Photos). Signed Rodin + J.B. Déposé Paris Foundry Mark + 'Bronze' Stamp + Numbered. Heavy, weighing 1,950 kg (5lbs) this Sculpture looks wonderful from all sides. Dimensions: 21,0 cm (8.3") High x 8,4 cm Base & 13,cm (5.1") High for just the Bronze. The detail overall is extraordinary & the CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are exceptional with a wonderful aged Patina. RARE 17th Century period Flemish CABINET époque Louis XIII - Expertisé

  Important Museum quality Original Cabinet Authentic Louis XIII in natural woods consisting of Ebony, Walnut, rare African Palissandre with inlays of genuine Ivory and Tortoiseshell (Rare shell of the Hawksbill Turtle) in red lacquer. Cabinet is in 2 parts, a Console and a Stand consisting of 4 legs decorated in the same fashion as the Cabinet. There is a 'Gallery or Theater' in the upper Cabinet which is hidden behind the 2 larger center doors. There are 14 drawers inside, mirrored with columns and inlaid with ivory in a geometric design. DIMENSIONS are 68.9" x 52.76" x 19". Included is a French Independent Expert's Certificate of Authenticity available. CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are exceptional.

  Hard to find Antique SERVING PIECES in solid Silver and in this Condition. Normally the Handles on serving pieces are Silver but Hollow, not these. The Knife & Fork are very heavy (250gr) and each is very beautifully engraved. The Silver work on the Handles is exquisite & decorated on both sides. Made by Parisian Silversmith 'Bergeron' successor 'Lenain'. Reference is P. 71 Dictionnaire des Poinçons, d’Orfèvrerie. Also, French Minerve N°1 Hallmark indicating its the finest French Silver, finer than Sterling (Reference is the Silver Book, "Tardy, Les poinçons d'argent @ P.199). Pair XIXth Century French Bronze Mythological Candlesticks

  Heavy pair of Exceptional Antique French Bronze CANDLESTICKS, Circa 1870. What is Rare is the Mythological style of this pair of Candlesticks. 2 Salamanders (considered mythical animals) which in themselves, represent a bronze Animal Sculpture on their own. Impression is that each is climbing on the Candlesticks. The Candlesticks Rests on 3 Legs & Feet which might be those of a 'Griffin', a mythological animal. DETAIL overall of the Bronze work is simply extraordinary. Cast in 1 piece, rare. Practical with Candles as well as conversation pieces. CONDITION WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are excellent. PYRAMIDION Silver Sculpture, Created by Roger Tallon Made by CHRISTOFLE

  Roger TALLON was the Designer of the world famous French TGV rapid Train. Tallon used the image of the Pyramid on which he engraved the History of the past 2000 years covering Politics, Art & Science in 3 Languages, one on each side of this Pyramid. Quite brilliant, his idea & Christofle made it for the Millenium 2000. Signed & Dated. DIMENSIONS: approximately 12 cm tall. Incredible and no wonder that Christofle sold out immediately. It can be used as a Conversation piece, a Paper Weight or simply as an Art object. Regardless of its use, it is certianly a wonderful souvenir of the past Millenium. CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are outstanding, made in the Millenium year 2000. Comes with its own hand made Christofle Box.

   Beautifully designed, large & heavy, handmade CHAMPAGNE or White Wine Bucket from one of the most famous Hotels in France, the EDEN ROC Hotel in Antibes, on the Côte d'Azur. Sold at auction some years ago when the Hotel was being renovated. Created by one of the finest Silversmiths of the XIXth Century, ERCUIS and stamped with the Ercuis Silver Hallmarks. Dimensions: 8" high x 6.5" diameter at base x 7.5" diameter at the top. CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are outstanding.

  Very fine Christofle SILVER Wine Taster made by the famous French CHRISTOFLE Silver Firm at a time when the quality of their work was outstanding. There are 3 clear French Christofle Silver Hallmarks under the Thumb Rest with the Christofle 'O Chess Knight C' + Christofle France + O Scales C'.   XIXth Century Handmade heavy massive Silver Wine Taster from the Bordeaux region of France. Minerve Head N°1 (1838) indicating .950/1000 quality Silver (finer than Sterling) impressed twice, on the the Bowl & on the Finger Ring. Engraved on the side of the Bowl next to a Hallmark: ' ROMAIN MARTIN, CHATILLON, NIEVRE, 1896'. Weighs about 115 grams (3.7oz). CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are excellent.

Napoléon III Solid Silver HOLDER or Handle for Gigot d'Agneau/Leg of Lamb

   A Rare XIXth Century massive Silver Holder or Handle used for holding, carving and serving a Leg of Lamb. The handle is heavy and is beautifully carved with the screw and the rest being heavy plated silver and in excellent condition with some usage wear. The Silver work on the Handle is exquisite and considering its use, it is in near pristine condition. It is an unique piece which epitomizes the art of the French Silversmith. Hallmarked on the end of the handle with the Minerve forward 1 indicating that this silver is finer than Sterling. The Handle is decorated on both sides with detailed Heads and a decorative vase. It weighs over 180 grams & is 8.5" long. Practical and very Collectible.

RARE Marine TIMER Stop Watch for 'PIGEON RACING'

  Rare Watch made in France by the Marine Workshop in Bordeaux and designed specifically for Pigeon Racing. Bronze placque on front of Case reads: 'L'Estafette' Constateur de Colombophilie, inviolable- Fabriqué par les Ateliers de la Marine, 31 rue Esprit des Lois, BORDEAUX". Designed to be foolproof, i.e. tamperproof because of the Wire used to seal the cover of the Watch to the Case. Face has a Second sweep hand and the Face is Metal. This Watch was cleaned and serviced by an expert Horloger in France. CONDITION, WORKMANSHIP & QUALITY are exceptional. Dimensions- 4" Tall x 2.5" wide x 1" Deep. See Photos.

Each is Hallmarked with the French 'Vieillard' (1819-1838) indicating .950 massive Silver, finer than Sterling. The 'Vieillard' Hallmark was only in use in France for 19 years.   Massive French Silver (.950 quality) which is finer than Sterling Silver. The quality of the Silver, about 60 grams, shape of the round Finger Ring and overall design are outstanding. Bunches of Grapes, large indented Bubbles, small raised Bubbles. Notice the wide 'lip' which overhangs the inside of the Bowl to prevent dripping. Feels wonderful in the hand, very well balanced. Initials P P discreetly engraved on the side. 3 Silver Hallmarks, Vieillard (1819-1838) (Reference -Silver Book, "Tardy, Les poinçons d'Argent @ P.199).    English Sterling Silver Wine Taster, Tastevin. A very fine, very heavy, handmade solid Silver Wine Taster weighing about 130 grams (4.2 ounces) in Sterling Silver. The Silversmith's Marks, "C.J.V." are stamped on the side of the Wine Taster and seen on one of the photos below & the Silver is fully hallmarked for London 1962. Made alsmost 1/2 a Century ago, the Silversmith copied an 18th Century French Wine Taster.

Antique THOMASON Bronze Barrel CORKSCREW - RARE

   Thomason Corkscrew in very nice condition. This variant, patented in 1802 has a Bone or Ivory Handle which is very nicely turned with a beautifully detailed end and Brush. There's a hole for a hanging Ring & a Dusting Brush which I believe is original. Lion and Unicorn Badge marked 'Patent' with the initials "J W" on each side of the Badge. The mechanism is corrosion free & in fine working order. The bronze Barrell is very clean &has an aged patina & has no dents or damage. CONDITION & QUALITY are excellent.

Double Action CORKSCREW 'ROY' Tire-bouchon - RARE

   French Corkscrew in polished Steel and Bronze or brass, a model quite rare. Beautifully detailed Handle with a name plate in Bronze or brass 'ROY' (see Photos) and in overall near pristine condition. The Worm or Helix or Mesh which is made of hand forged Iron is in excellent condition with a pointed tip. In excellent working condition, functions smoothly, with no corrosion. Beautifully engraved Shoulder on the Barrel. Very Heavy. CONDITION & QUALITY are excellent with good English Silver Hallmarks.

English solid SILVER WINE FUNNEL - XVIIIth Century - RARE

   Handsome, very fine English Wine FUNNEL in solid STERLING SILVER made in London in 1796 by I believe, Thomas Northcote, a well known period English Silversmith. Heavy, good gauge weighing about 5 ozs / 150 gms and with the original 'Muslin Ring' which is nearly always missing. A small piece of muslin cloth was sewn to the ring to filter the sediment or dregs from the wine. Dimensions: 7" from the tip of the spout to the top and about 3" in diameter. CONDITION & QUALITY are excellent with good English Silver Hallmarks.

   Sterling SILVER WINE FUNNEL STAND resting on 4 turned legs is Hallmarked in LONDON for 1878, with the Silver MAKER'S Initials "H.W.D." Dimensions; 3.5" X 3/4" finely made, good Gage Silver and quite heavy. Engraved beautifully in small letters on the bottom is: 'P. & F. SCHAFFER, 27. PICADILLY.' Most likely the Shop that sold it originally. CONDITION and QUALITY are excellent and any collector knows how rare it is find one like this.

   Handmade solid Silver Spanish Wine Taster with unique Ivory Thumb Rest weighing 50+grams in STERLING Silver (.925/1000). The Silversmith's Marks, stamped on the underside of the Thumb Rest is a Silver Hallmark of "925" indicating Sterling Silver. The taster is 2.75" in diameter (3.75" with the Ivory Thumb Rest) & about, 7/8" deep. CONDITION & QUALITY are pristine. This Taster was obviously kept in a cabinet and used infrequently or very, very carefully.

The Silversmith's Marks, stamped on the side of the Wine Taster include the letters "E P " in a diamond Lozenge for I believe the famous Parisian Silversmith, "Emil Puiforcat", then at 131, Boulevard Haussmann, Paris (P. 74 Dictionnaire des Poinçons, Orfèverie). French Silver Hallmarks, Minerve Head with forward 1 indicating finest Silver, finer than Sterling, is (stamped twice) on the underside of the Ring Handle + on the side (Reference is the Silver Book, "Tardy, Les poinçons d'argent @ P.199. In addition, there is a further earlier tiny Silver Hallmark, on the top end of the Thumb Rest, which is that of the Head of a 'Sanglier' or Wild Boar.. CONDITION & QUALITY are pristine.

Gallia / Christofle Silver WINE DECANTER or Claret Jug- Circa 1885

   'Elegant' best describes this plated Silver Antique Baccarat Crystal 'Claret' Decanter which is in Pristine condition. Decorated in the style of its birth, Napoléon III, this decanter is Rare in that one finds many antique pieces by both Christofle &/or Gallia, but, rarely an early 'Wine Decanter'. Gallia, did work for 'Christofle' until Christofle bought them out in around 1925 and Christofle used Gallia for its more high end and avant garde pieces. The crystal is clear. Condition & Quality are excellent.

Napoléon Coin WINE TASTER, Solid Silver XVIIIth-XIXth Century

   Handmade, xlarge, fine, heavy (90+grams) Wine Taster in massive Silver. French Silver center medallion of Napoleon signed by engraver, J.P. Droz, depicting Napoleon as Emperor & King. Hallmarks, including Rare, 'Fleur de Lys' normally reserved for Royal Silver. The interior detailing is extraordinary as is the quality of the Silver. Inspiration for the Thumb Rest must have come from the Chinese as the Silversmith sculpted 2 exceptionally fine Serpants, mouths open & both holding the 'Sacred Pearl'. The detail of the Serpants, both sides, is incredible. The taster is 3.75" in diameter, 4.75" including the Thumb Rest & 3/4" deep. CONDITION & QUALITY are pristine.

Antique French Burgundy WINE TASTER, Solid Silver 'PARROD, Marc'

  Late XIXth Century, very fine, heavy (90+grams) handmade French Wine Taster in massive Silver with French Silver Hallmarks, (le poinçon Minerve première titre (950/1000) indicating finest Silver (finer than Sterling) stamped twice, on the Thumb Rest & the side. The Silversmith's Marks for "Parrod" 16, rue Verrerie, Dijon also stamped twice. Reference, 'Dictionnaire des Poinçons, Orfèverie P. 95. Most importantly, there is an earlier French Ag Control Mark on the Ring under the Thumb Rest. Base has been brilliantly hammered. The taster is 3 3/8" in diameter (4.5" with theThumb Rest) & 1" deep. CONDITION & QUALITY are pristine. Thumb Rest beautifully engraved & inscription 'BERGER NUITS' on the side.

Silver & Cut Crystal WINE DECANTER or Claret Jug XIXth Century

  The Silver work on this Carafe or Decanter is impossible to describe, it epitomizes the art of the Silversmith. Hallmarked on the lid and the neck with a Sterling Silver content of 0.925 + the Silvermaker's Mark which I cannot identify. The Baccarat Crystal bottom is beautifully detailed in a diamond pattern, even on the bottom. The Handle is decorated with detailed vines and grapes and even the spout has cupids. 11.5" tall.

Emil FILLA 1882-1953 Czech-French

  Oil on Canvas signed and dated 1928. 14 3/4" x 17 3/4". Douglas Cooper in 'The Cubist Epoch' (London 1971) discusses the importance of cubism in Czechoslovakia-"Filla was the most constructive of the Czech cubist painters". In France, Shurr describes Filla as the 'Head of the cubist movement in Czechoslovakia'. Rare to find his work outside of a Museum. Condition & Quality are excellent. Framed in a custom gold leaf frame.

  ORIGINAL Gouache composition painted on paper, signed & dated by Auguste Herbin in 1942. Because of the glass on the frame there are some shadows on the photos. I took photos from different angles trying to avoid shadows. Comes with a Photo Certificate of Authenticity from Genviève Claisse dated the 12th of May, 1989, who is the world recognized Specialist for Herbin.   RARE & quite unique plated Silver EGG WAITER or Cruet complete and original set of 3 egg Cups which rest on ball feet, 3 spoons and a small Salt Cellar which hangs from the Tray like a Caldron in a fireplace. It has its own spoon. Each piece has been gilded and the plating as well as the gold gilt are original and in excellent conditon. Each Spoon (including the Salt spoon) is Hallmarked as is the Tray. XIXth Century Christofle/Gallia Silver & Baccarat Crystal WINE DECANTER

   Fabulous and Rare plated Silver & Crystal (probably Baccarat) Wine Decanter or Claret Jug by the famous French Silver Firm, CHRISTOFLE and made for the Gallia Line. Paris. 11.25" tall. Condition is very good with normal usage wear considering age and use and the Quality is very fine. The crystal has been etched with flowers and Rayons and is not cloudy. There are 2 silver hallmarks, 'Orfevrerie Gallia + the Gallia Rooster'. Christofle used the Gallia Marks on their higher quality items and the styles were more avant-garde.

  Hand made, extra Fine, heavy Solid Silver Antique French Wine Tasting cup dates from the 19th Century. It is simple yet elegant. It was designed to prevent 'spillage'. There are several French Silver Control marks - the 'Minerve Head' with forward 1 (see Photos) on the finger ring under the Thumbrest and again, very clearly marked on the Inside of the bowl.   RARE & Unique pair of NAPOLEON III French Black Mother of Pearl "Nacre" OPERA GLASSES in near pristine condition. The Black MOP has beautiful shading, I have never had MOP in this color, and, when you turn them in the light the MOP has an opalescent glow which is very, very beautiful. There is a telescopic Handle that can be adjusted in length and moved to any position and from left to right. It has MOP on the Handle and at the end of the Handle, as well as on the adjustable Dial for Distance. The small lenses are signed Lemaire Paris & Ryrie Brothers..on the other Everything works--the focus and the Handle. CONDITION & QUALITY are excellent.

I believe the Box to be made out of 'Laiton' or Copper which has been Gold Washed or Gilded and the Center Medallion to be Silver or plated Silver. About 2.5" in diameter and about 1" high.

WRITING DESK SET XIXth Century

  'Hand Made' Antique Travelling Desk Writing Set in the form of a 'Leather Bound Book'. Included and starting from the top of the photo the contents are: original, PENCIL, PEN, LETTER OPENER and SCRAPER all made of the same wood as the box and each capped off at the top with a metal guard. Each of the above is housed in a separate lined sleave. Inside the Box there is a GLASS INKWELL (still sealed) with the inside of the top of the inkwell "corked" to prevent spillage. Dimensions: 10" wide x 6 7/8" deep x 2" high. Condition & Quality excellent.

  Gentleman's Victorian table cigar lighter with fluted rim and base, bearing a gentleman’s crest. The top unscrews for access to a fuel well. Complete with wick and with a loaded base. Emil Puiforcat Silver & Crystal AiguillereXIXth Century

  Antique Crystal & Silver CLARET JUG, Wine Decanter, Wine Carafe or better known in France as an 'Aiguillere'. CONDITION & QUALITY are excellent. Puiforcat is stamped on the neck and on the base as is the Head of Minerve forward 1 indicating that the silver content is 950/1000, finer than Sterling Silver. The Decanter is about 12" tall to the Finial and the Crystal is Baccarat.
