| POLISHING Sterling or Silver Plate - HOW does one Polish or Clean SILVER? SILVER as a metal is softer than Bronze, Copper and Brass and one should not use Products designed for anything but SILVER. Silver acquires a Patina with age and proper care and it is this Patina which can easily be removed with improper cleaning &/or Polishing. Use a soft cotton cloth and if a product is to be used, choose one with no abresives. No matter what the Product, it is not necessary to use a Product often. A gentle polishing without any product should restore the Silver. Careful, because the scratching may not be visible to the naked eye. In the Silver Forum there has been a great deal of discussion about the same thing. Sorry, this Exceptional 4pc. Covered Bowl, 18th Century French, has been SOLD to R.E. |
